Product Description
Milscreen™ inspection tags record when a piece of equipment was last examined, when it is next due, and who signed it off, fixed to the equipment itself so the answer is where the person standing in front of it can read it.
What gets tagged. The pattern is the same across all of them: the item, the last inspection, the next date due and the inspector.
| Tag | Typically records | Fixed to |
|---|---|---|
| Ladder inspection tag | Last check, next due, inspector initials | Stile or top rung |
| Fire extinguisher inspection tag | Monthly check, service date, next due | Neck of the extinguisher |
| Emergency shower and eyewash tag | Monthly functional check, inspector, date | Pipe or bracket |
| Safety harness inspection tag | Serial, last examination, next due | Webbing loop or D-ring |
| Lifting gear and sling tag | Identification number, working load, test date | Eye, shackle or sling body |
| Calibration tag | Calibrated on, due, reference | Instrument body |
| Self-adhesive inspection label | The same record, on a sticker | Applied straight to the equipment |
| Production status tag | Quality check, rework, on hold, approved | Part, pallet or work in progress |
Colour coding by period. A different colour for each year or quarter lets a supervisor see from across a workshop whether anything on a rack is out of date, without reading a single tag. Annual colour-coded sets are the usual way ladder tags and lifting equipment tags are ordered.
How they are filled in and fixed. Write-on fields for the inspector to complete on the spot, tear-off strips where a tag has to show a status change, and sequential numbering where each tag has to be accounted for. Fixed with a cable tie, a wire loop or an adhesive strip depending on what it is going on. Barcodes and QR codes can be added so a tag links to your CMMS or maintenance system.
The tag itself. Printed on coated card, punched for a cable tie or wire loop, and printed on both sides so a full year fits on one tag: January to June on the front, July to December on the back. The surface takes a ballpoint or a marker, because the point of these is that the inspector writes on them at the equipment rather than filling in a form afterwards. Metal tags are made as well, for equipment that lives outdoors or where a tag has to stay on the same item for years rather than be replaced each cycle.
Self-adhesive versions. The same record can be supplied as a sticker rather than a hanging tag, applied directly to the equipment. That is usually what suits an instrument, a hand tool or a portable appliance, where there is nowhere to hang anything and the label needs to sit flat on the casing. Inspection labels, calibration labels and test labels are all produced this way, on printed vinyl, with the same write-on fields and numbering as the card tags.
The checklist format. Most of these carry a printed list of the conditions being checked, a month grid to initial, and a dated line for each inspection, with an equipment tag number and the year at the foot. A standing instruction line such as "all defects must be reported for immediate rectification" is printed on the face where the regime calls for it.
What we do and do not do. We manufacture the tags and print whatever your inspection regime requires on them. We do not originate the inspection schedule and we do not advise on what a given piece of equipment is required to show or how often it must be examined. Send us the format and the wording you work to and we produce to it.

Write-on fields let the inspector complete the tag on the spot, tear-off strips show a status change, and sequential numbering accounts for every tag issued. Tags are fixed with a cable tie, a wire loop or an adhesive strip depending on what they go on.
Yes. A barcode or QR code can be added so the tag links to your CMMS or maintenance system, which is how sequential numbering is usually tied back to a digital record.
